As the summer season comes to a close, I commend everyone for their continued hard work and dedication to our program. I appreciate how proactive you all have been with your recruiting efforts, whether it’s finding new events or testing new methods. Two of our regions newest recruiters have done an exceptional job of this coming out the gates—Trevor Waldspurger and Lori Card. They are consistently reaching out to show promoters and looking for events that are in need of NRA representation. They have both attended gun shows that we haven’t had recruiters at, and branched out to events other than gun shows such as archery open houses and outdoor shows. Keep up the great work!

Something I have found to be imperative while traveling to shows is to stay connected with NRA-ILA. Understanding current events and NRA’s stance on them will help you answer questions and create relationships with both potential and current members. Signing up for NRA-ILA alerts on www.nraila.org will help ensure that you are up to date on the latest political information regarding our Second Amendment.

Recently I have received an influx of applications with complications regarding payment. The most common issues have either involved incorrect credit card information or incorrect check/money order totals. Please be mindful to double-check your numbers and show reports before sending in your applications. Errors like these add time on to membership processing. The faster these applications are processed, the sooner the new members will receive their membership credentials packets, and the sooner you’ll receive your commission!

Keep up the hard work over the final few months of the year. As always, feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to help!

Kathryn Hollifield - 703-267-3772 - KHollifield@nrahq.org

As we move into the second half of 2017, Southeast event recruiters have recruited over 14,000 members so far this year. Congratulations are in order to the following Recruiters who made the Top 25 Recruiters for the Southeast either for the first time or are back again!

  • Steve Rosenthal
  • Carol Shaffer

Congratulations are also in order for those who have recruited over 400 members so far in 2017!

  • Showmasters
  • David Conte
  • Dave Fitzmorris
  • JT International
  • Harold Osmon
  • John Powell
  • Alan Bagley
  • SC Arms Collectors Association
  • Ed Howard
  • Home Guard Associates
  • Charles Johnson

Every year we ask each Recruiter to sign up at least 25 people. Have you completed this yet? If so, can you double or even triple it? As we head into the final stretch of 2017, I challenge all Southeast Recruiters to meet this goal. Gun show trader is a great website for you to reference gun shows in your area. If you haven’t been to this website, I highly encourage you to click the link- https://gunshowtrader.com/ and see what event you can attend next. All I ask is that you contact the promoter to make sure we don’t already have one of your fellow Recruiters attending.

Please let me know how I can help in your success. Thank you for your continued dedication to the NRA!

Nicole Spala - 703-267-3776 - NSpala@nrahq.org

Thank you to our Central XP Recruiters! There are 98 of you that have recruited 12,238 members this year alone! A special thanks and congratulations to the following recruiters:

  • Tulsa Gun Show- 939
  • Ralph & Linda Celia- 874
  • Laura Ramirez (Permit to Carry)- 868
  • Doyle Hallmark- 814
  • Charles Belt- 726
  • Ludwig Sawicki- 685
  • John Cuba (Gateway Civil Liberties Alliance)- 640
  • Damaso Torres- 601
  • Jane Snapp- 581
  • Wilfred "Lee" Swank- 572

One of the most common objections to joining continues to be “I’m already a member”. This is a good thing! Now you can have them renew or extend their membership with you! Remind members that they will not lose any time on their membership if they renew early with you early, they will just extend their membership out. Not to mention they’ll save $10 and receive a fee hat!

Do you know anyone in the region interested in becoming an NRA Recruiter? Currently, the Central region is in need of show recruiters in AR, Central WI, Columbia, MO and Southeast TX. Be sure to put any interested members in touch with me.

Thank you again Central recruiters! I have had a blast working with you all and I know we make a great team! I look forward to finishing out this year successfully and hopefully meeting some of you at Annual Meeting in Dallas next year!

David Merrill - 703-267-3784 - dmerrill@nrahq.org

It’s hard to believe the summer is over and fall is here. Thank you, to all the Western region recruiters for working hard to have another great summer of recruiting. Gun show attendance should pick back up but continue to look for events to go to outside of gun shows.

Selling memberships this year has not been easy. Many people don’t feel the need to sign up or renew because the threat to their Second Amendment rights isn’t front page news. We need to be more proactive than ever. Make sure you are talking to everyone who walks past your table. Simply asking “Are you an NRA member?” can get the conversation started and potentially lead to a membership. The more people you can talk to, the more memberships you will get. Once the conversation has started, you can reply to any objections they may have for not signing up/renewing. If you are coming across the same objection and are not sure what to say back to them, let me know and I will help you through it.

Getting the conversation started is also a great way to highlight the benefits of membership including $2,500 insurance for their firearms, monthly magazine and discounts on a variety of products. For a complete list of member benefits visit benefits.nra.org Their membership dues are also going to help protect and defend our Second Amendment rights as well as supporting all of our different programs such as education and training and our Eddie Eagle GunSafe program. For a complete list of NRA programs visit explore.nra.org Sometimes all it takes for a potential new member to sign up is letting them know about these great benefits. The more information you know about the organization, the easier it will be to tailor your sales pitch to a potential member.

As always feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to assist you. Let’s keep the momentum going as we close out the year.
