My name is Hannah Greene and I am grateful to represent the National Rifle Association as the new Northeast Marketing Representative. I have been fortunate to have built a relationship with many of you over the past 6 months as the Program Assistant within the Recruiting Program. I’m very excited for this opportunity to enhance our relationship and strengthen our organization together and couldn’t be more eager to hit the ground running!

Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to defending our Second Amendment freedoms. Without our recruiters, our member base wouldn’t be as strong as it is. We had a great victory with the 2016 Presidential Election, and now it’s time to go on the offensive and continue our fight.

Over the next few weeks, I will be contacting all of you to introduce myself. I know I have big shoes to fill following Kara Kelly, but I am up to the challenge. Please let me know if there’s anything you need or concerns you may have. I’m looking forward to working with you!

Over the last two months, the Southeast Region has seen a slight dip in memberships. Don’t let this discourage you from getting out there and asking people to join or renew. Whether it’s at a festival, sporting goods store, gun show, or rally always be ready and willing to sign people up!

Here are some tips to help close the sale:

  1. Utilize the Show Recruiter Knife Kit. The knife is a newer premium that members aren’t used to seeing Recruiters offer. It has worked successfully in selling multi-year memberships.
  2. Know what’s happening in your state! If you can speak to the legislation that is trying to be passed or blocked, you have a better chance of getting someone to join.
  3. Keep your pitch short, simple, and to the point. People walking by are in a hurry.  Be sure to catch their attention, be brief, and close the sale.
  4. Speak to the member benefits. People like to know what comes with their membership besides fighting for their 2nd Amendment rights!
  5. Finally, BE POSITIVE! A great attitude and a smile goes along way.

With these tips and everyone working together, we can close the gap between last year and this year. The train doesn’t stop now that we have a President in our corner. We must keep on fighting. There will always be anti-gunners out there that will try and bring us down.

As always, I am here to assist you. Let me know how I can help you get to your goal of at least 25 members recruited. Thank you for your continued dedication to the NRA.

“Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It is courage that counts.” -Winston Churchill

I wanted to start with this quote because I think it’s really important for us to not only plan for the hard work we have ahead but also to reflect on the great work we have done. Because of all your courage, the Central region is continuing to grow and more of you are sending me ideas for events to attend in your area!

Stepping “outside of the box” and working new events will be crucial to recruiting over the remainder of the year. Recruiters throughout the Central region are doing just that to fill their calendars for the year. Zack Simonini in IL will be recruiting at DeerFest, Steve Petersen in MN is dedicating 2 weekends to recruiting at GameFair again this year and Rhonda Esakov will set up shop at the Texas Firearms Festival at end of the summer for first time!

I also wanted to recognize the following recruiters for their hard work so far in 2017!

  • Tulsa Gun Show (Mark & Joe)- 939 members
  • Permit to Carry (Laura Ramirez)- 868 members
  • Ludwig Sawicki- 606 members
  • Ralph & Linda Celia- 579 members
  • Doyle Hallmark- 568 members
  • Linda Baxter- 547 members
  • Gateway Civil Liberties Alliance (Jon Cuba)- 517 members
  • Damaso Torres- 484 members
  • Lee Swank- 434 members
  • Charlie Belt- 422 members
  • Jane Snapp- 327 members

I look forward to continuing to build relationships with all of you! It has been a pleasure getting to know, talk and meet all of you! Thanks Central Recruiters!

Thank you all for your continued efforts! It has been no easy task following a record year in 2016, but with your hard work we have been able to continue to grow our membership numbers!

The NRA recently announced a new comprehensive self-defense insurance and training program called Carry Guard. More information about Carry Guard can be found at www.nracarryguard.com or you can read a recent American Rifleman article about it here. If someone asks you for more information about Carry Guard, please direct them to the Carry Guard website or have them call 866-672-5050. We hope to have a recruiting system for Carry Guard in place in the upcoming months.

Historically, the summer months reflect a lower number of gun shows coupled with smaller attendance. This is a great time to venture to new locations and events. Don’t let any opportunity pass by that may produce members. Car shows, motorcycle rallies, rodeos, festivals and fairs are great summer events to reach new members who may need the extra encouragement that comes with face to face interactions. Retail locations are also great places to sign up new members. Working smaller events during the summer months also allows you to network and could lead to bigger events in the future.
